Communicating Indigenous Research to Policy

A series of briefings for policy makers and advisers about SIRP's recent on-ground work with Indigenous communities.

In June, Land & Water Australia (LWA) organised a briefing for policy makers and advisers to hear about recent on-ground work with Aboriginal communities, and the implications for natural resources and human health policy and management.

In particular, the briefing highlighted two projects:

The audience included a South Australian Senator; political advisers; and representatives from various Federal Government departments, research organisations, water agencies and more. All involved were delighted by the level of interest in the work and its outcomes. In the days afterwards, smaller briefings took place with the National Water Commission and an MP from Northern Territory.
